Happy 29th Birthday Matt Davis!

Today was The King of San Francisco's Birthday. He turned 29! We had lots of friends over to help us celebrate, we grilled burgers and enjoyed one of my famous cakes...Ty helped me make it! We had lots and lots of fun.

Matt has been going bowling with his buddies and has been getting really good at it so he has been wanting his own ball. So I had the guys help me order him a ball and had it sent to their house so it was hidden there for the last week. The guys also helped me by doing a very beautiful job of wrapping it! They brought it over in this huge box so wonderfully wrapped in duct tape. :) They packed it with their recycling and had his ball at the bottom of the box. He had no idea what it was so it was so much fun to surprise him!

What the heck is in this huge box??
Digging through recycling...

Finally Found it!
Jrob and Moyer also got Matt his own pair of bowling shoes, but they gave him these old rental shoes first...they were nasty! Matt was so funny trying to be nice about it and be thankful. Then when he opened the real shoes his eyes lit up like he was relieved! It is so nice to be around such great friends who will help make these kinds of things possible!

Thanks for all the love for Matt he had a great day!

Negotiations

So about a week ago I took Ty with me to the Christian Book Store to pick up a book that I ordered. Of course he ran right back to the area where the Veggie Tales stuff is and started surveying items that did not already belong to his massive collection. Amazingly enough he found a CD that he does not already have and of course he asked for it. In order to avoid a fight I said to him You can buy it, if you earn the money to buy it. Good thing this kid loves a challenge because he said okay and asked how he would earn the money. I explained to him that he would have to help out around the house. He said okay and so the games began.

On Saturday I was cleaning the house and I said to Ty I'll give you 2 dollars if you go clean your room...His eyes lit up and he said "Okay" and ran off. (the CD he wants is 6.99) So I thought no time better than the present to teach him how to negotiate. So the following conversation took place.

Mommy: Ty come back here...When I say I'll give you $2 to clean your room you should say how about $3 instead....Okay...
Ty:Okay....
Mommy: So Ty I'll give you $2 to clean your room....
Ty: Okay.(and runs off to his room)
Mommy: Ty come back here, when I say that I will give you $2 you should ask for $3 because 3 is more than 2 right?
Ty: Right....
Mommy:So do you want 2 or 3?
Ty:3
Mommy:Okay so I will give you $2 to clean your room....
Ty:
Okay...(and runs off to his room)
Mommy:Ty come back here...Do you want 2 dollars or 3 dollars?
Ty:3
Mommy:
So you have to ask for 3
Ty: Mommy, I have no idea what you are talking about!
Mommy: FINE! I will give you 3 dollars to clean your room....Just go clean it!

So either my kid is a slow learner (which we all know is NOT the case) Or he is freakin' brilliant and was able to break me down and get $3 out of me without even asking! Anyway he earned all $7 and we are off to the store today to get him his CD.He saved up his money by crumpling it up like Papa does and sticking it into a cup in his room.

Here he is with all 7 of his crumpled up dollars.

Another funny story about cleaning up his room:
When he went to clean his room I went in there and he picked this pair of underwear off his floor and said, "I'm going to put these underwear back in my drawer" I said, "are those underwear clean" and he said "I don't know I don't smell underwear!"
Where does he come up with this stuff??

He did do some other good stuff like loading his dishes into the dish washer, but his mom and dad did have to use some of the dollars for evil like paying him to not whine for an entire day....which is like his favorite thing to do right now! But it worked and it was a dollar well spent if you ask me!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

We have a kindergartner! I can't believe it!! Ty started school at Roosevelt Elementary on Wednesday. He was so ready to go. He woke up excited and ready to go. We got up and I made him pancakes and then we went to my school together. And when it was time for Kindergarten Matt and I took him and dropped him off.I just can't believe he is old enough to go to Kindergarten. But I am so glad he is having fun. Tonight he told me, "Mommy, I like Idaho, I am having fun here." So at least I know he is having a successful transition! Here is some pictures of him on his first day of school ENJOY!
First Day THUMBS UP!

In front of our NEW HOUSE! striking a pose of course!

With Daddy!

With Mommy!

Walking down the hall to his classroom...

Sitting at his desk in his class...
So far so good. Things are starting to fall into place. Matt goes to work on Monday for Flooring America. The owners are family friends of his and he will be helping to remodel one of their stores. It is right up his ally! I am so glad that he is going to be doing something he is familiar with. It is a temporary job with the opportunity to be permanent so we just have to pray that they have their eyes open for the next couple of months and see how great he is at what he does! So things are starting to work out, God is providing! Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us during this change!!

Slip And SLIDE /update

Before we left S.F. John and Michelle bought Ty a slip and slide. So the other day Matt broke it out in the back yard. Kirsten and Boston were over to watch all of this craziness. It was so much fun!

Ty didn't quite know what to do with it at first being a city kid and all but he took to it fast
.

We have still been busy at work on our house...but we have taken out sometime for play. I started work this week, at The Garden Of Learning a preschool in Nampa and so far so good. We have some things to iron out still but I think it is going to work out good. Ty is starting kindergarten next week. He will be going to work with me at 8 am and staying at the school with me until after lunch when he will take the bus to his kindergarten. I get off work at 3 pm so I will be done in time to pick him up from school. Please pray for us this week as we face a lot of changes in our life. Matt still has not found a job. He has a lot of leads but nothing is set in stone yet so please continue you to pray for him as he tries to iron out all the details of what he will be doing. Please pray that he just finds something that he will enjoy!

Decorating Crazy!

We are loving every min of being in our house! We have already started getting everything in order and decorating each room. Not one room at a time...We are doing a little here and a little there....

We Painted Ty's room...He picked out the color called "Star Command Blue" which we actually switched with the color called "Liberty" and since it is still blue he had NO idea! One day we will tell him the truth. He had a blast helping paint.

And it turned out really cool. I Painted the quote: "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." and we stenciled his name on his door also. We still have some pictures to hang and lots of toys to find a place for still but what fun would it be if it were all done already.

We painted our room as well. We kept the base color of the wall and then we put a large stripe around the middle in a darker shade of brown. We also got vinyl lettering in our room that says Always remember to kiss me good night. I think it turned out beautiful! Our room is pretty much done. We just need a little book shelf to hide all of our internet routers and such in.

We had our first dinner guests yesterday when Cal and Tracy came over. It was so much fun to cook for them in my new kitchen and sit around the table and just hang out with good friends. We also had our first San Francisco visitors. Esther and Clayton, came up for a family reunion and came by to see us and our house and of course a couple of hours of some very competitive Wii had to take place.... Can you believe that is Clayton...He is bigger than Matt! It was fun to see them and Ty liked kicking Clayton's butt in boxing on the Wii.

Please pray for Jobs

One of the hardest things about leaving San Francisco was that Matt was leaving a job that he loved. He loved working with his dad and Joaquin and the work that they did was so amazing. Before we left they were in the throws of building a house for the Kilgore family. Our friends who adopted 7 boys! They are the best family and so it was very emotional for Matt to leave not only the job but on this particular project. On Matt's last day on the job I snapped this picture of the dream team. Mike, Matt & Joaquin. Here they are in front of the "Kilgore Project"

Please keep Matt in your prayers. Job situation for him is still up in the air and I know that he is nervous about it. So please pray with us that something just as wonderful as life with the dream team comes his way!

We are HOME!

We are HOME!

We got to Nampa, Friday night and we drove straight to our house. Matt Ty and I stayed the night here just on the floor and then we got up on Saturday and started moving. We moved pretty much all day just at least getting everything in the house and setting up beds and such. I'm sure that people must have thought Matt and I were crazy because I think both of us were just in such awe that this was our house. I had Matt and Mike hang a mirror for me on the wall and everytime I walked past it I just kept say gosh I love that mirror there! It is so much fun to fidget around here and get everything set up. Take for example, the kitchen....
BEFORE:

AFTER:
I can't wait to get cooking in there!
Ty is loving being here too...The best part? His own bathroom of course. It is not like he spends that much time in the bathroom but it is "HIS" and that is what is cool about it. He will literally run from the living room upstairs just to use his bathroom...as a matter of fact I am not sure he has EVER used any of the other bathrooms :) We have his bathroom decorated in Cars movie stuff. And yesterday I even found him a trash can for the bathroom that has scenes from the movie on it. It is pretty cool. We are going to paint his room and our room today. So this week will just be so much fun. It is really fun to be around Matt right now since he was working so much before we left. It is so cool to have a husband who can just put in a new plug right where you need it. I never thought I would enjoy arguing with Matt over where something is going to go but it is so much fun working together on this. There is no one in the world I like to around more than Matt. This place has just been such a blessing to us we are so excited to see what the future holds here.

It's a work in progress but the best part is that it is OUR work in progress!!
