9 Months OLD!

Today Lyla officially turns 9 months old. She is loads of smiles! Right now we are enjoying a visit from Joaquin, Aja, and Kalea. Kalea likes to say Lyla…which sounds a little more like “Lala” And Lyla responds by smiling a HUGE smile with her tongue sticking out in excitement that there is this little person playing with her.

Lyla is learning lot and transforming right before our eyes! This month she has:

  • Started pulling herself up on everything.
  • Standing up on her own. She is letting go of the couch from time to time.
  • She is talking, saying Lyla, Ty Ty, DaDa, and Pop Pop(which I think is her way of saying Mom mom…but it comes out Pop Pop… :)
  • She does not enjoy grass…if you put her in the grass she does everything to keep her legs off of it.
  • She still wakes up VERY happy no matter what
  • She loves cheerios, banana puffs, and these baby cheetos things.

Here is a picture of her that her brother took of her while I was giving her a bath in the sink :)

DSCN0660 Here is another fun picture of her in the grass it has been very nice here, except when Joaquin & Aja arrived then it went down to the 50’s . Notice she is grossed out by the grass, and trying to keep her legs off of the grass!

NEEDS

There has been a lot of fun things going on in our house! A week ago we took delivery from Mike on a truck that we acquired from him :) If anyone has seen Matt’s car you would know that Matt NEEDED a truck! I don’t believe there is much that we actually NEED but this was defiantly a NEED! But I have to say my husband never fails to amaze me. He made his 98’ Toyota RAV4 (nicknamed the truck edition) work for almost 2 years! He actually built shelves in the back of it to house his tools, but he was very limited when it came to work and loading things and it basically meant we were a 1 car household because with the tools in it, we could not park it anywhere or put the kids in it at all. Anyway we are now the proud owners of a gas guzzling F-250 that would make those green people shudder, but it is pretty awesome to have Matt finally have a vehicle suitable for what he does! Ty helped him clean out the RAV4 and organize his tools into the truck. They had fun! DSCN0631Lyla got a new swimsuit from Jenny & John in the mail. It is really cute and since we are starting to see weather in the 80’s here it looks like we are going to be able to use it very soon! She is still a very happy baby! She LOVES her dad! As a mater of fact when I say Lyla, say Mama…She says Dada! She is starting to speak! She says Lyla, TyTy and Dada! She makes us smile ALL the time. We are currently getting our house ready for the arrival of Joaquin and Aja who arrive this week. It will be very fun to see some faces from San Francisco!

Adventures of “Lyla, the busy”

Lyla is one busy little bug! She is crawling ALL over the place, and pulling herself up on everything. She has made it up the small steps between the living room and the kitchen and has moved on to the the main stairs. We have to watch her like a hawk! The good news is she is very entertaining!

We use all kinds of measures to keep her corralled in the living room…Only she has started to think through the box (if you know what I mean) and go beyond the barriers!

DSCN0647 Ha! Ha! Your silly barrier won’t keep me out of the playroom, I will just go through it!

APPROVED!

So as most of you know I have been working with College Church of the Nazarene the church that we attend here in Nampa, to open a learning center at their facility. This program would be a ministry to provide affordable childcare to children Birth through age 4. I am happy to announce that this week the church board approved this ministry and we will be working toward opening in August. I have worked VERY hard on this and will be the acting director of the Learning Center. It makes me very happy to see it becoming a reality. Here is a preliminary logo that my good friend Juan made for me. Pretty awesome! Seeing something like this in the flesh makes me very excited. Please pray for us as we move forward with this ministry!

In the Kitchen with Glen

So as everyone knows I was VERY close with my Grandpa, “Poppy” Lupe. And since he was really into being in the kitchen and cooking, I find a connection with him in the kitchen. I have pictures of him in my kitchen and all of the tools that he and my grandma used to do cakes. Well this weekend I was thinking, I am so blessed to have met two wonderful men like him in my life. The other was Glen Bowen, Matt’s Grandfather. Better known as “Bumpa” to most. Bumpa was also handy in the kitchen and quick witted! I remember some of the greatest one liners coming from Bumpa! Anyway today Easter Sunday 2010 Joye and I were in charge of the all church Easter Breakfast. (Joye did most of the work!) But for something that the two of us were so worried about, it went off without a bang and besides the fact there was no coffee (not our fault) it went VERY smooth and I have to say I was very proud of it. So right inside the door to the kitchen at church is a plaque that announces the fact that the cabinets were bought in memory of Glen Bowen, our Bumpa. And the night that Joye and I went to set up I thought it was the light switch to the kitchen and knocked it off the wall. (someone had put it up with tape instead of hooking it on the hook) Today in the middle of the chaos of cooking and running and cleaning I went over and put that plaque more securely on its hook and couldn’t help but think Bumpa was in the kitchen with us today!

Thanks Bumpa! Happy Easter!

Pulling herself up & Standing!

It Seems like it was just last week that we were saying Lyla is crawling, then yesterday Matt and I went into her room to see if she was up from her nap yet and we found her like this!!

DSCN0584Apparently that mobile works as a good tool to pull yourself up with! And we are lowering the mattress of her crib.

Nosey Rosie

I remember my Grandmother often referring to my Grandfather as “Nosey Rosie”. It was something that I remembered my Aunts and Uncles saying to him as well. Lyla has quickly adopted the nick name herself!!! She is into everything and is SOOOOO Nosey!!

Here are some of the adventures of Nosey Rosie…DSCN0564

We have to lock her out of the playroom (too many little pieces in there)
