Parent/Teacher Conferences

Tonight was Parent & Teacher Conferences.

We went in to meet with Ty’s teacher Mrs. Millard. Who is my FAVORITE! I wish she could just follow him all the way through school! She is so great for Ty! The conference started out like this.

MRS. MILLARD: “Ty, What is a commitment?”

TY: “A Powerful Promise!”

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!! I love that she has taught him that!! That is how you talk to a kid like Ty! So she told him what we were going to do is make a commitment all of us to help him out with his school and get him ready for 2nd grade, but not that he needed much help.

So this is the part where I start bragging are you ready?????

The school wants the kids to meet “Benchmarks” This is a score that tells them they are at grade level. Most of you might remember Ty basically spits on these so called BENCHMARKS!! So here is where he is at…In order to leave 1st grade (which keep in mind is still 2 months away) they want 1st graders to be at a benchmark score of  16.

TY IS AT A 24!!!

The score to leave 2nd grade is 29

WE ARE SOOOO PROUD! We have been so blessed by his school and all of his teachers! The school always has a book fair during conference times so we rewarded him with new Diary of a wimpy kid books. One of his favorites. Tonight he and I are trying to finish reading book 1 and hopefully we will get a chance to go see the movie that just came out!

Here he is enjoying his new book…. (which by the way is a book for middle school level)
