Thrifty Art For Lyla's Room

So when we did Lyla's room the wall above the dresser was blank, and since Matt hates a blank wall. He continued to tell me "we need something over here" I told him lets get 3 black frames and we can put pictures of all of us in them. So when I was at Walmart the other day I found frames for 5.00! So I snatched 3 of them up! 15.00 is a good deal for 3 nice black frames. So then I stuck them in her room where they will go, but of course it began to drive me nuts looking at the pictures of people you don't know that say 11X14 Frame. I wanted to put something in them but what and I didn't want to spend more $ on them. So here is what I did....

For the 2 matching ones I painted a poster board to match the pink color on her wall, then I found a piece of "lace scrap book paper for 1.99. and just floated it over the pink paper. (total for thrifty art #1: $7.24!) And the best part is when she gets here and I actually have photos of her to put in there, I can just float that over this already beautiful background. I thought it would look silly to just have 3 matching ones...So on the middle one I bought a cute piece of scrap book paper (only .16!!) and placed it in the frame with the mate around it....And if I get to feeling like I have nothing to do tomorrow I might paint the matte. :) We'll see! So here is that one....It says Baby Girl in all different fonts, and it matches the lighter pink in her bedding.

Total cost for Thrifty art #2 is only $5.16! Here is what all three of them on the wall look like...

I am just having way to much fun putting together her room!! And the good news is Matt & Mike started work on our 4th bedroom add on...so once Lyla comes (if I have any time) I will have a whole new room to play in! .....Oh gotta go I think HGTV is calling!!!
